Klitschko updates on the latest situation in Kyiv

25.02.2022

The mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko held a briefing providing an update on the latest situation in Kyiv and how the municipality responds to the Russian aggression and martial law introduced.

Klitschko: The ongoing situation in Kyiv is very dangerous and this is not an exaggeration. The night and the early hours of the morning are going to be very tough. The Russian troops mass near Kyiv, the law enforcers and our army neutralize the Russian diversion groups.

The strategic infrastructure, including bridges, are heavily guarded. Roadblocks are being set up at the city entries and along highways close to such objects.

Also, I want to say thank you to residents of Kyiv for their readiness to enlist the 112th Kyiv’s Territorial Defense Force Brigade which is fully staffed. Now we are busy forming additional forces to defend the city.

Again I urge Kyivans to stay alert and watch for signs that are put by the enemy’s observers to adjust fire. Please notify the police or municipal guards if you see a circled X being put on rooftops of the buildings or road surfaces. You can paint those signs over or cover them with dirt. Also, please check your rooftops if there are such signs.

Only recently residents of an apartment complex in Kyiv discovered a lot of such signs in their territory and removed them.

Hospitals in Kyiv operate also in line with martial law and treat emergency cases. As of February 26, the Kyiv city blood centre operates 24/7 and does everything to provide enough blood and plasma donations to service members. A lot of Kyivans have already responded to the call to donate their blood and we highly appreciate it!

We stand together to defend our Kyiv and survive! We have trust and confidence in our Armed Forces, our country and ourselves!

Take care!
Glory to Ukraine!
