The first shipment of nearly 60 generators of various capacities from the Warsaw City Hall and the Warsaw community has arrived in Kyiv. They will help the city strengthen the resilience of critical facilities, social infrastructure institutions, and residential buildings. The next shipment is expected to arrive in the coming days. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported this on his Telegram channel.
“In total, the Polish capital has sent 90 generators (most of them diesel-powered) of various capacities — from 10 to 64 kW. These backup power sources will allow the city to strengthen the resilience of critical facilities, social institutions, and residential buildings. The generators have already begun to be delivered to some districts of Kyiv — in particular, to power equipment in buildings where there are problems with restoring heat supply,” Klitschko wrote.
Earlier, the mayor of the capital appealed to international partners for assistance to Kyiv in overcoming the emergency situation caused by damage to critical infrastructure as a result of enemy attacks — specifically, for the provision of generators.
“The mayor of Kyiv’s sister city, Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski personally called me, offered help, and the Polish side promptly sent the equipment. I thank the mayor of Warsaw and our Polish friends for this extremely necessary assistance during the energy crisis!” Vitali Klitschko emphasized.
He also recalled that at the beginning of this week, the capital received 130 generators of various capacities from Poland, purchased with funds raised by Polish volunteers. Within 10 days, 60,000 Poles donated nearly €2 million.
On Monday, the first shipment of generators purchased with charitable funds arrived. Kyiv is expecting the next shipment in the near future.
