The Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko continues to provide information on the situation in Kyiv.
Klitschko: My dear Kyivans, my friends!
Intense fights are ongoing outside Kyiv where the enemy tries to wipe out Hostomel, Bucha, Vorzel and Irpin and kills the civilians with extreme violence. The head of Hostomel’s community Yiuri Prilipko has been killed while distributing bread and medications to his people. He was my colleague, we worked together in the Association of Ukrainian Cities. May he rest in peace!
The army and the civilians heroically defend the Ukrainian cities against the occupiers.
The Kyiv municipality does everything to ensure reliable city services. We distribute the aid among the most vulnerable population and stockpile food, essentials and medications.
Kyiv has also sent humanitarian aid to Chernihiv and struggles to deliver it to Bucha and Hostomel followed by other Ukrainian towns.
I urge Kyivans to stay indoors or in shelters as the city steps up the defensive measures.
