The Podilsko-Voskresenskiy bridge is expected to be the longest arch bridge in Europe, spanning over ten kilometres, with six traffic lanes, two tracks for the much-awaited metro line to Troeschyna on the lower deck and a pipeline. 68 gigantic wire cables will bear the load of the bridge deck. The designed traffic volume of the bridge is 60,000 vehicles per day.
The project planning reaches back to 1979. The actual construction work started in 2003, but the progress was sluggish until 2018 when the work picked up steam again. Podilsko-Voskresenskiy bridge is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2021.
