The mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko held a briefing providing an update on the coronavirus situation in Ukraine’s capital and the measures the city is taking to respond.
Klitschko: Over the past 24 hours, new cases rose by 196, totalling 213,030. There are 387 more recovered patients in the past 24 hours and that brіngs thе total number of recoveries to 203,934. A 71-year-old woman died. The Covid-19 death toll has now reached 5,186 in Kyiv.
New cases include 109 women (27-80 years old), 75 men (27-80 years old) and 12 children. Among the newly infected are four medical professionals.
Dniprovsky and Obolonsky districts have the highest number of new cases registered overnight, 36 and 28 respectively.
With 67 patients admitted to hospitals overnight (including those 49 with suspected diagnosis), there are 252 coronavirus positive in-patients in Kyiv. 143 patients are very ill, six of them are on a ventilator. 225 people need supplemental oxygen.
The vaccination campaign is ongoing in Kyiv. The vaccination hub located at the International Exhibition Centre resumed its operation yesterday and will work until 17.30 on Sunday. A total of 20,700 people have been vaccinated there. Members of the general public who have booked their appointment via helsi.me portal would be invited to have their vaccine by a text message either at the vaccination hub or any vaccination office located in polyclinics.
Kyiv continues to vассіnаte education workers. At least, 46,800 shots of Comirnati vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech have been administered to them in 17 vaccination offices.
As of today, at least 296,500 people have been vaccinated in Kyiv, including those 53,000 with the second dose. Mainly they are medical professionals, municipal social service and education workers, Paralympic athletes and people with disabilities.
