Kyiv Mayor’s Coronavirus Update – July 17, 2020

The mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko held a briefing providing an update on the coronavirus situation in Ukraine’s capital and the measures the city is taking to respond.

Klitschko: There are new 76 coronavirus cases overnight in Kyiv, which include 26 women (18-83 years old), 42 men (18-84 years old) and eight children. Seven patients are hospitalized. 

As of now, the number of total COVID-19 cases in Kyiv is 6,689. 

160 Kyivans recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries up to a total of 2,320. This is the highest number of recoveries in a sіnglе dау. 

The majority of new cases came from Dniprovsky and Desnyansky districts, 13 and 11 respectively. 

Special patrols are continuing to monitor the compliance of businesses with the official health guidelines. Over the past ten days they have visited almost 1,500 food facilities and issued 534 fines. They also closed seven entertainment facilities for their noncompliance. 

Nine beaches have reopened, since the water is clean and safe for swimming. Still, due to a slight exceedance of E.coli a yellow flag is still in place on other four beaches, Rayduga, Telbin, Verbny and Puscha-Voditsa. Peredmistna Slobodka beach is closed for swimming.
