The municipal Covid-19 hospitals are over 33 per cent full.

The number of seasonal flu cases is also growing. According to the Kyiv Central Laboratory under Ukraine’s Health Ministry, there were 12,953 influenza cases registered last week in Kyiv, including 7,662 adults and 5,291 children. At least half of those children are school students. 582 patients were hospitalised with flu, including 58 kids.

Please, take your health seriously and if you feel unwell, call your doctor. Because only last year 676 Kyivans died from flu complications.

Now a few words about the situation in schools. Today all schools and nurseries are open for in-person learning.  196 separate classes in 103 schools and 37 groups in 32 kindergartens are quarantined due to the detected infections. Active Covid-19 cases are 250 schools students and 148 teachers. The kindergarten attendance rate is 60 per cent.

Along with the rest of the regions, Kyiv has begun its Covid-19 vaccination programme with Oxford/AstraZeneca (Covishield) shots provided by the Health Ministry. Ukraine’s capital city received 42,600 vaccine doses. Covid-19 vaccines are offered in 120 vaccination hubs installed at health facilities and boarding schools and 120 additional vaccination offices located in polyclinics so that the rollout will not interfere with other scheduled vaccination plans.

The first recipients are medical professionals of Oleksandrivska hospital who treated almost 7,000 Covid-19 in-patients last year and medics of 15 mobile vaccination groups. On the first day of the vaccine rollout 90 healthcare workers were inoculated. Currently, we are vaccinating the healthcare professionals and medical staff of hospitals.
