Klitschko calls on Kyivans to stay home or in shelters and asks the business to donate food and water

26.02.2022

In his Telegram post, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko called on Kyivans to stay home or in shelters and asked the businesses to donate food and water. “Dear friends! Kyivans! We defend our city! Unless you are essential workers, to stay safe, please don’t go outside, stay at home or in shelters,” said Klitschko.

He informed that the metro operates as a shelter and does not provide ride service.

“I would like to call on businesses to donate the essentials and free rations to residents. People staying in shelters, in-patients, our Territorial Defence units are in need of food, water and basics. The municipality does everything possible to support them but would appreciate your help. Kyiv and Ukraine are being jeopardised and we have to survive!” declared Vitali Klitschko.

Thus, in response the privately-owned Kyivkhlib company donates bread to people taking refuge in the metro, volunteers bring them drinking water and some food. ATB and Silpo supermarkets continue their operation in Kyiv.
