Klitschko: I do not have a habit of bothering the President’s Office

20.05.2021

Responding to the words of President Zelensky, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko underlined that he does not tend to drop in at the President’s Office and has not met the President for half a year. “I have good manners and do not come uninvited. Maybe I am being mistaken for someone else? Because I am a busy person. I always call first before visiting – even my friends. Bothering and pressing someone for anything is against my principles. As mayor of Ukraine’s capital, as the president of the Association of Ukrainian Cities, I have called and written to President’s office to schedule a work meeting. Because we have a lot of issues to discuss, including tariffs, natural gas, important problems in Kyiv, self-government to name a few. But the meeting never  happened. And where there is no communication, there is no cooperation and efficient work,” stressed Klitschko.

The mayor also noted that accusations of embezzlement of public funds made against him have come as a surprise. “I have already commented on recent orchestrated searches and raids. This is a manipulation aiming to discredit the city government! Law enforcers search the papers about financial crimes that we themselves had provided some years earlier. What have they been doing all those years? Could the President is being misled? To be able to claim anything one should always have legal proof,” stressed Klitschko.
