Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko briefs on the current situation in Kyiv

04.03.2022

The Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko continues to provide information on the situation in Kyiv.

Klitschko: My dear Kyivans, my friends!

This night was quite calm under the circumstances. The anti-missile system set off several times.

Life continues, even while the city lives under martial law. There are cars on roads, open groceries and municipal pharmacies. I want to call the owners of private pharmacies to reopen them to help reduce the many-hours long lines for medications.

The Pivnichniy and Darnytsky bridges remain open to maintain traffic between the two banks of the Dnieper river. Still, I request people to refrain from journeys for safety reasons. When you hear a siren do remember to come down to a shelter.

The city continues to reinforce the defensive measures, more and more roadblocks and anti-tank obstacles are set up in streets.

The city hospitals including the maternity hospitals are well-equipped and staff there remains being put on alert. Over the past eight days, 390 babies were born in Kyiv, 199 boys and 191 girls.

A lemur named Bayraktar was born at the Kyiv zoo.

Also, the Humanitarian Task Force set up in Kyiv continues its operation to assist in any needs of Kyivans.

Let us stay committed and help those in need.

We will continue to defend Kyiv together! We will withstand! Glory to Ukraine!
