Klitschko: Kyiv continues to defend itself. The situation is under control.

27.02.2022

As Kyiv mayor revealed in his video Kyiv continues to defend itself. The situation in Kyiv is under control. There are many sabotage groups that still operate here. There were clashes and street fights at nighttime in Kyiv and the army, law enforcers and the Territorial Defence units successfully neutralised some large groups of saboteurs.

Klitschko: Dear friends, dear Kyivans! Kyiv continues to defend itself. There are no Russian troops in the city, but there are many sabotage groups that still operate here. There were clashes and street fights at nighttime in Kyiv and the army, law enforcers and the Territorial Defence units successfully neutralised some large groups of saboteurs.

To ensure the safety of Kyivans we imposed a curfew which will remain in place until Monday morning. Please, don’t go outside unless you hear an air raid siren.

Russia shells residential areas in Ukraine’s capital and kills Ukrainians across the country. Since the beginning of Russia’s assault, nine civilians, including a child, four unidentified persons and 18 combatants have been killed in Kyiv. 106 people are wounded, including 47 adult civilians and three kids.

In the morning a fire broke out in a sixteen-story residential building on Lavrukhina street. Seven private cars caught fire. Thank God there were no casualties, only minor injuries.

The situation in Kyiv is under control. The city’s key infrastructure operates normally. Public transportation, including the metro, is suspended. The underground metro stations operate as a shelter.

Hospitals in Kyiv operate in line with martial law and treat emergency cases. The current blood supply in the city blood centres is enough to cover the demand for blood components. The most needed now are Rh-negative blood donations, so I urge people who are Rh-negative to contribute. You can make a blood donation at any of the two blood centres at 26 petra Zaporozhtsa str. and 12 Berlinskogo street as soon as the curfew is lifted.

Also, the municipality sets up a Humanitarian Task Force to provide aid to Kyivans who have suffered due to the assault. Very soon it will start recruiting volunteers and receive donations.

I request everyone to stay calm and stay home or in shelters. The army, police and National Guards, Territorial Defence Forces and volunteer army units defend the city.

Also, I want to say thank you to Kyivans and businesses who already responded to the call for help and did everything to support the city in this dire situation.

Together we will survive! We will fight and win! We stand together with our army and Territorial Defence Force. The justice is on our side. Glory to Ukraine!
