Klitschko: A curfew imposed in Kyiv starting 5 p.m. February 26 until 8 a.m. February 28

26.02.2022

In a video Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko revealed that a curfew imposed in Kyiv at 5 p.m. today will remain in place until 8 a.m. Monday, February 28.

“To ensure the safety of Kyivans we had to impose a curfew at 5 p.m. today which will remain in place until 8 a.m. Monday, February 28. During the curfew, martial law prohibits the movement of private vehicles without authorisation. The movement of individuals unless they have an essential worker authorisation will also remain strictly prohibited. Streets are dangerous and our defenders continue to neutralise saboteurs,” pointed out Klitschko.

The mayor of Kyiv  revealed that any persons who are on the street without a permit will be considered members of the Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups. Should there be air raids, residents would be allowed to go to bomb shelters.

“I urge everyone to stay calm and don’t go outside,” called on Klitschko.

He informed that the city’s key infrastructure operates normally. Public transportation, including the metro, is suspended. The underground metro stations operate as a shelter.  He also thanked the businesses that donated drinking water, food and essentials to Kyivans who take refuge in bomb shelters, wounded in-patients and the Territorial Defence soldiers.

“This night will also be very tough as the Russian troops will be attempting to break into the city. Together we will survive. We defend our land, our children and the future of our country! Glory to Ukraine!” announced Vitali Klitschko.
